Hey folks!

Cannot believe Labor Day and football are around the corner (actually preseason starts this month, but who’s keeping track anyway, right? GO COWBOYS!!!!). Man, the concept of space and time disappear when you’re pushing pixels. Which brings me to the subject of this blog entry: CARL SAGAN! Actually it’s not C.S. but it’s right up his cosmic alley. I’M RENDERING PLANETS AND IT’S SO MUCH FUN!!!

I’ve been working on some 3D goodies and it’s time to share a little work-in-progress (WIPs for those lovers of the acronyms). My latest project has launched me into the deep deep deep deep deep corners of the universe. Any one that knows me, KNOWS what a sci-fi junkie I am and these two shots are two stills from an animated sequence to be used in my future demo reel. Yeah, you guessed it folks… I’m finally taking the good ol’ animation plunge and I cannot tell a lie–I LOVE IT!

I’m tweaking here and there but I’m close to what I want with the sunrise shot (SG401-70A). Still lots of work ahead. I’ll keep you posted with more WIPs of the alien sunrise sequence.

So, until we meet again my young Skywalker… peace, love and may all of the warm and gushy stuff in between be with you! Easy!!!

Say “hi” to planet: “SG401-70A”. With some minor tweaks,
I should be close to the final look and can begin animating.
Pictured is an earlier rendering of the alien planet SG401-70A.
I wanted to scar up the surface more and decrease the atmosphere.
Perhaps I’ll save it for another story in another part of the universe 🙂
